This experiment is from below writings,

I live in a student dorm en suite room. In the room, there are minimal items necessary for living, such as a desk, wardrobe, bookshelf, bed, and toilet. I put my laptop on my desk, and I often watched YouTube videos sitting at my desk. Also, I have three meals a day at my desk and also ate snacks several times. I mostly do three activities such as watching videos, having a meal, and studying in the area of my desk. Whenever I was having a meal, I watched the video as well. And every time I turn on my laptop, I unconsciously find food. the visual stimulus and the tactile stimulus from the actions take place at the desk area. Suppose people do something that requires concentration above all else, in such a space, they will continue to be bothered and tempted by extraneous stimuli performed from the experience. Whenever I sit in front of my desk and try to study, want some food, and watching videos at the same time. In contrast, When I have a meal at that desk or watch YouTube even after my today's work is done, I keep thinking of my unsolved work. This seems to be the result of the combination of stress, taste, and visual stimulation. This experience may seem too natural. But that is the reason why I concern this issue. This is because a situation is coming where we must separate the life that is natural for us.

If adopting this situation in the home office, it will be difficult to get rid of such anxiety from stimuli of the accumulated experience. If I use the desk as a home office desk, it will be more difficult to get out of the stress. As whenever I try to take a rest, I keep thinking about left work. As the situation in which the home is being used as an office is functionally accessible as an office at any time. The psychological burden that this situation puts on the individual comes as stress. Staying in such one space functioned as several roles bring mental stress.

This whole repeated experience is from how far and many I access to another space or object. So that I think this situational problem, working from only at home from Pandemic reduces own psychological space. Then, this is connected to the burnout problem. I suggest perceptual separation from rest space and working space from one place. This might resolve from the making own experiences as spatial by setting specific behavior in the specific spot has drawn by a green tape. The drawing is from the outline of a specific object, and it roles as a trigger to make own intangible boundaries to control oneself. 


I pay attention to how the individual creates such an Imaginary space/boundary through the interaction between objects and themselves. And design intervention related to this idea to deal with mental stress and living new normal in a home.

Terminology1 Peri-personal space, it means the space that your arm will not reach.

This distance need for separating your working life, entertaining life, and rest life (having a meal without work stress) from the physical distance. It shapes your movement. As you move to different spot, you will not allow doing another thing during you are doing sth. This is for separating the blurred life and interrupt memories.
